The Last Two Weeks in Pictures

My kids all went back to school today, it was a beautiful thing, and I feel the need to celebrate somehow.

It has been a rough couple of weeks, I am so grateful to get this crap out of our house. I am going to haul the kids in for a flu shot, because there is no way I am opening up my house to that nasty bug.

Thankfully my kids were actually very pleasant through the entire two weeks of being sick.

In honor of finally clearing my house of the fever that lasted FOREVER, I give you the last two weeks at our house in pictures:

Proof that we have watched WAY more Spongebob than any person should have to watch in a lifetime, the girls made Spongebob's pet Gary, and Gary's new girlfriend.

Goodbye Virus, please note that you are never welcome in this house again, thank you very much!!

Another One Bites the Dust

Tuesday, December 13, 2011

It was bound to happen, no one is lucky enough to have only one of  the five people living in a home get the flu, especially when we are all hanging out in such close proximity to each other.  This small place does not leave any extra room to quarantine the sick child.

Hannah started complaining about not feeling well when it was time to fold her laundry, so both Rob and I figured she was trying to get out of it.  We got the laundry folded and then headed to the Wal-Mart for a few things to decorate our tree.  I decided this was the time to listen to the little voice in my head so we brought the bucket, just in case.  We were almost there when Hannah started throwing up.

Now here is the part where you award me Mother of the Year: instead of going home we found a dumpster, threw away the bucket, and rushed inside to get what we needed adding a new bucket to our list.  We made Hannah a bed in the cart with a tree skirt and Rob's coat and thankfully we made it out of the store without incident.  She came home and curled up on the couch and watched us decorate before falling asleep.

I hoped it would only last 12 hours like Hunter's and sure enough this morning she was feeling much better.

So the questions remains...Who's Next??

The Weekend

Monday, December 12, 2011

Craptastic is the word I would use to describe this weekend.  It all started Saturday morning at 5:00 am when I hear Hunter calling for me from his room, I went in to check and he informed me he had thrown up, three times.  I climbed onto the top bunk and started cleaning up while Rob got Hunter showered.  We had Hunter settled and were almost asleep when he started throwing up again.  After another change of the sheets, shower, and instructions to use the bucket if he can't make it to the bathroom we headed back to bed. Just as we were all almost asleep he threw up again, this would last for all of Saturday.

Because Hunter was sick I sent Rob and the girls out to find a tree, ideally we all would have gone but I figured we had all gone the weekend before so they could go without us.  Hunter and I took naps and I cleaned up the house while they were gone.  Just after dark Rob called to inform me the truck was stuck on the mountain and some nice people had given him and the girls a ride back into town and could I please come and pick him up.

Rob spent the rest of Saturday night getting what he needed to pull the truck out in the morning. Thank goodness for family, Rob's cousin Steve came over bright and early to help him get the truck out.  Hunter was feeling better so he headed out with his Dad and the girls and I took a chill day because I didn't want to spread any germs that may have been lurking.

The bright spot in the weekend was Rob bringing home a tree, it could rival the Charlie Brown Christmas tree for it's lack of branches.  Rob found it close to where his truck was stuck and I will admit I hate it, but I also love it because it has a story we won't forget anytime soon.

And in my opinion Christmas tree's with a story are the best kind no matter how ugly they are.
