To Do in Utah: Disney on Ice

Tuesday, November 27, 2012

The weekend before Thanksgiving (I know way behind) we took the kids to see Disney on Ice in Salt Lake. I was lucky enough to win tickets from the lovely Kathy over at Danish Mama, and the kids were so excited!! Our seats were perfect, we were in one of the corners and high enough up we could see everything perfectly, it was the best.

Of course the girls and I loved the princesses, and I really loved that the majority of the Princess act was Belle and the Beast. The boys said they were very thankful the princess were only one act.

Another favorite were the Incredibles which may have had more to do with Jack Jack peeing on Edna Mode than any of the other tricks they did.

I only wished they would have done more tricks, but as I talked to Rob we decided they probably do all of the tricks they know they can land every time. After all nobody wants to traumatize a child when their favorite character is carted off the ice on a stretcher.

It is safe to say we really had the best time, despite the annoyed look 2 of the 3 have, that is for their mother and her request for yet another picture.

Thanks again for the tickets Kathy!!!

Weekend Roundup

Sunday, October 21, 2012

Thursday night Hannah had a fever and wasn't feeling good, Friday morning was no better. She spent most of the morning curled up on my bed with Max watching cartoons. Eventually she got bored with cartoons and decided to sit next to me and color instead.

That night she was feeling better so Rob and I headed out for a quick dinner date, we picked up Mini Murph Pizzas for the kids, which they loved and now think they should get them every date night.

But who can blame them. They had so much fun making their own pizza's, Samantha even got extra creative and made her's into a Jack-O-Lantern.

Speaking of Pizza...after going carb free all week I was looking forward to finally eating fruit again on Saturday. I actually dreamed about this pizza. Rob had picked me a bunch of apples when he was at his parents house and sadly they sat untouched all week since they were not part of the carb free diet.

But the wait was worth it, the combination of apples, chicken, and caramelized onions was so good!!

We also bought a new game, we are a little late to the party, but I think we waited until the perfect time to finally buy Ticket To Ride for our family.

Samantha and Hunter are old enough to play and Hannah is a great teammate. We played at least 8 games this weekend. I think it's safe to say it's a new family favorite.

(This was the only game I wasn't the yellow trains and I did horribly, I kept forgetting what trains were mine)

Speaking of apples, I promised Rob if he would pick me apples I would make him a pie, he had to wait over a week for me to finally make it, but it was worth the wait.

Can you guess what I am having for breakfast?!?!
(after I do some kickboxing of course)

Carlie's Baby Shower

Monday, October 8, 2012

My baby sister Carlie is due with her first baby in a few weeks, so we headed to Grandma's house this weekend to throw her a baby shower. My Mom had planned an entire pumpkin theme and made all the decorations, which were adorable.

I was in charge of making the pumpkin roll, yummy, and the photo booth.

Can you tell we had a blast, I have the best family, and we are all so excited to meet Baby Dixon!!

To Do In Utah: Stewart Falls

Monday, August 27, 2012

I fell head over heels in love with Sundance Resort when Rob took me up there last winter so he could teach me to ski. Although I still have a bit to go until I am an actual skier, I knew there would be many more weekends spent up there with our little family in the future.

Sundance is not only a fabulous winter ski resort, they also offer great things to do in the summer.

One of our favorite hikes, Stewart Falls, is located at Sundance.

My kids love this hike because it isn't very hard and they get to ride the lift to the trail head.

You can also get to the falls from a separate trail leading from the resort, but we think part of the fun is riding the lift and enjoying the gorgeous views.

Hannah has struggled with hiking before and Rob has ended up carrying her for part of our hikes, but this time she walked the entire way. She even did really well going down out of the lake bed, which is kind of a steep incline that lasts for about a hundred yards. Coming back up was a little harder, there were a few tears, but she did make it and I was so proud of her.

If I were to do it over again we would have ridden the lift up and hiked into the falls and then followed the other trail back down to the resort. But the kids all voted and wanted to ride the lift back down again so we went back the way we came.

It was a beautiful day, the temperature was perfect, there was light breeze, and the colors were just starting to turn. I think fall may be my favorite time to hike into Stewart Falls, but we did it earlier in the summer last year and it was just as fun.

To end the day we headed up to Heber for dinner and a fresh peach and raspberry shake from the Dairy Keen, so good!!
