The Halloween Post

Friday, November 2, 2012

I was not feeling Halloween this year, honestly I woke up and couldn't wait for the day to be over. That night as we were heading down to trick or treat with Rob's sister he informed me I was being a grinch and needed to change my attitude.

I may have stormed off after the kids when we got there and vowed not to talk to him for the rest of the night.

A few houses in Hannah ran up to a door to be the first to ring the bell, a very tall man in a scary looking gorilla mask answered the door.

She stood there in horror and then tried to get out of there as quickly as possible. The only problem was the other kids saw the sodas he was handing out and started pushing her closer to the masked man trying to get one.

I was standing on the sidewalk when she came back down in hysterics, it took a minute to understand exactly what had happened, and as I tried to calm her down Samantha was the best big sister and went back to the door to get her a soda.

After that Hannah did not want to go to any doors alone and held firmly to my hand, my Halloween Grinch heart grew ten sizes in that moment.

I know the Halloween's with my kids trick or treating are numbered, and I wasn't going to let a few holiday imperfections stop me from enjoying this one.

My kids are already talking about what they are going to be next year, only 361 more days.
