Sledding at Spanish Oaks

Sunday, December 28, 2014

I am convinced one of the best Christmas presents we received was a huge snow storm Christmas day. It almost felt like the snow would never come, so to get over a foot was a real treat.

Friday it was cold but we didn't let that stop us from enjoying a little sledding with our 'Aho cousins at the Spanish Fork golf course. There were a lot of people who had the same idea we did, but the golf course had four big hills so it didn't feel crowded.

I think the entire state has been waiting not so patiently for this snow.

The kids went up and down the hills as many times as they could before the adults started complaining about cold toes and insisting it was time to go warm up.

We promised more snow and sledding in the future. Hopefully Mother Nature doesn't make us into a bunch of liars.

Winter Fun In The Desert

Monday, December 30, 2013

We were grateful for a fairly warm weather on Saturday and decided to take advantage of it. We packed all the kids up and called Rob's sister to see if they would be up for a day in the desert riding four-wheelers and shooting targets.

The kids had a blast driving the little red 4-wheeler, riding on and being pulled behind the big 4 wheelers, building a fire, eating snacks, and shooting their BB guns.

I had gummy bears in my pocket, she thought she could steal them, teach her to mess with Mom.

It was a good day, we are hoping for a few more this winter, it is nice to get out and enjoy some fresh air!!

Oh Christmas Tree

Sunday, December 8, 2013

It had been snowing like crazy the day Rob announced we were going to cut down our Christmas tree. I doubted we would be able to get up the mountain, after all if we had two feet of snow, and counting, at our house there had to be way more up there.

I wondered if we would have to turn around and head to a tree lot, I prayed we wouldn't get stuck, and I couldn't help think we were insane. But according to Rob if the idea seems borderline crazy that is how you know you are having fun.

What we didn't expect was to turn onto the road and see the mountain had not gotten as much snow as we had. It was still snowing but we were able to get up pretty high, and because I didn't want to get stuck we parked in a safe spot and walked along the road pulling our sleds behind us.

We didn't have to go far before we spotted a good looking tree up the hill so Rob climbed up to check it out. The kids, and Daisey, tried to climb the hill to follow him but kept slipping back down again so they decided to stay and play while Rob cut down our tree.

In the end we found a beautiful tree that filled our great room with the best smell, the sign of a great tree. I am so thankful we didn't have to miss out on one of our favorite traditions because of the weather.

And guess how many pictures I took of the completed tree, that's right two, with my phone.
I will do better next year, maybe.
