Surprise Cheese Burgers

I have to say this is one of my favorite meals, it is super easy to make and my kids love it. Plus if you are short on time and don't want to make the dough you can just thaw some Rhodes Rolls to use instead.

Surprise Cheese Burgers

Dough
1 C Warm Water
1 pkg yeast (2 1/4 tsp)
3 Tbl Oil
3 Tbl Sugar
1 tsp Salt
3 C Flour

Meat
1lb Ground Beef
1/4 C minced onion
1/2 C water
1 1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/8 tsp onion salt
1/8 tsp garlic salt

1 Cup (or more) Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Dissolve yeast in 1 C warm water. Add oil, sugar and 1 tsp salt. Stir in enough flour to make a soft dough, knead until smooth and elastic. Divide into 12 pieces and let rise while you prepare the meat.

Brown ground beef with onion, drain fat. Mix together spices, add to browned meat with 1/2 C water. Mix and let simmer for 10 min.

Flatten each dough ball and fill with about 2 Tbl of meat and about 1 Tbl of cheese. Fold filled dough in half and pinch sides to seal.

Bake for 20 minutes.

My family loves to dip these in fry sauce (which is ketchup mixed with mayo and I like to add a tiny bit of milk to make it creamy), but you could also dip them in just ketchup or eat them plain.

Enjoy!!
